Goin' Walkin'
04:14
|
|||
It’s just not makin’ sense; was there an expectation?
Cuz lookin’ at it from where I stand, I’m not havin’ any revelation
Forgive me baby if that sounds cruel I don’t mean to cause you any pain
I wish I was better at this; maybe I could more clearly explain
I’m goin’ walkin’; I need some fresh air
I’m goin’ walkin’; I just need to get out of here
Cuz, if I start talkin’ right now I might say things that I’ll regret
So, I’m goin’ walkin’ baby, I’m just not ready for conversation yet
No, I’m just not ready for conversation yet
It’s not unusual, to have our own interpretation
So I suppose it’s time for us to discuss our little situation
I’ll say this before I go, I won’t dispute your recollection
No, I’ll give you that if you’ll give me a little time for some self-reflection
I’m goin’ walkin’; I need some fresh air
I’m goin’ walkin’; I just need to get out of here
Cuz, if I start talkin’ right now I might say things that I’ll regret
So, I’m goin’ walkin’ baby, I’m just not ready for conversation yet
No, I’m just not ready for conversation yet

Outlaw's Prayer
04:11
|
|||
I see the dust of riders closing fast, sheriff and his posse found my trail at last
Slip into my boots and holster my gun, this is the life of an outlaw on the run
Gather what I can; toss it in my pack, saddle up ol’ Willie Boy and hop up on his back
Rears up on his hind legs and like a bullet from a gun, he’s quick to a gallop and again, we’re on the run
An outlaw needs a partner who’s there in time of need
Been none better than this loyal steed
Without my trusted friend there’s no telling where I’d be
He deserves so much better than a Hell-bound outlaw like me
Full day of ridin’ haven’t lost ‘em yet; we hideout in the darkness and take some time to rest
Willie Boy is tired, I can see it in his eyes, this is it; it’s the end of the ride
Lord I know I don’t deserve anything of you, I’ve lived an outlaw’s life and broken all your rules
For me I ask nothing, I won’t hear the angels sing, but when comes the time could you please
Give ol’ Willie Boy some wings?
An outlaw needs a partner who’s there in time of need
Been none better than this loyal steed
Without my trusted friend there’s no telling where I’d be
He deserves so much better than a Hell-bound outlaw like me
He deserves so much better than a no good, no count, hell-bound outlaw like me

Like Being With You
03:24
|
|||
Winter, Spring, Summer, especially Fall. Go with anytime you call
At the ready, like being with you
Long nap, morning walk. Always listen, never talk
Just so happy, like being with you
Stay out ‘til way past midnight, I don’t mind
As long as you come home
I’ll be waiting, anticipating,
With kisses to spare
Loyal friend is hard to find. Never let you fall behind
Ride or die partner, like being with you
One thing I’ll ask of you. Just promise you’ll love me too
Never leave me, like being with you
Moral to this story is plain to see
Prefer each others company
You’re the reason, I’m a howlin’
In perfect harmony
Winter, Spring, Summer, especially Fall. Go with anytime you call
At the ready, like being with you
Like being with you
Like being with you
I like being with

Old Wooden Fencepost
04:30
|
|||
An old wooden fencepost; weathered and gray, once stood with a purpose now just stands in the way
Once tall and strong, so long ago, now worn out and weakened as the years took its toll
Some old wire fencing clings to its back, some rusty old staples keep it intact
It tugs on the fencepost when the winds blow, but the old wooden fencepost refuses to let go
So they dance, dance in the wind, randomly, helplessly, swinging; swaying again
They dance, dance in the wind, the old wire fencing tugs on the old post and then
They dance in the wind
After all of those years with a purpose defined, their role has now changed with the passage of time
Surviving the struggles, they have endured, now they serve as a refuge for the weary winged bird
And they dance, dance in the wind, randomly, helplessly swinging; swaying again
They dance, dance in the wind, the old wire fencing tugs on the old post and then
They dance in the wind

Don't Lower The Bar
03:58
|
|||
Take your time, slow down some; take it easy, you don’t have to run
There’s enough here for everyone, if everybody shared
What if we all agreed, to only take what we need
If there was no heartless greed and everybody cared?
I’m not tryin’ to change your mind, I’m just sayin’ what’s on mine
Opinions aren’t a crime, tho some act like they are
Regardless of your point of view, when the day is through
When we all do what we got to do, please, just-don’t-lower-the bar!
It might sound implausible, a little crazy or impossible,
Probably improbable, but that won’t stop a dream
We may never reach a deal, or come close to the ideal
But I can’t un-feel what I feel, or deny what I believe
I’m not tryin’ to change your mind, I’m just sayin’ what’s on mine
Opinions aren’t a crime, tho some act like they are
Regardless of your point of view, when the day is through
When we all do what we got to do, please, just-don’t- lower- the-bar!

Originals
03:22
|
|||
We are all originals, unique individuals with a separate and distinct identity
Though some of us might share a name, no two of us are made the same, we each claim our own reality
We’re a blend of independent thought, and all the things that we’re taught; bound to our genetic chemistry
All the choices that we make and everything we give and take reveals our personality
We’re Originals in every way, from our smile to our DNA, the only one of us there’ll ever be
From the moment that we’re given birth, ‘til the day we leave this Earth, we have an opportunity
To leave our mark on humanity
We come in different shapes and size, different color hair and eyes, differences in gender, age and race
Big, small, short and tall; we are wonders, one and all; equal members of this human race
I don’t care what anybody says, I think our strength is in our differences and a sacred bond of unity
And when we give a greater value to, the uniqueness of me and you, we are stronger exponentially
We’re Originals in every way, from our smile to our DNA, the only one of us there’ll ever be
From the moment that we’re given birth, ‘til the day we leave this Earth, we have an opportunity
To leave our mark on humanity

Brand New Strings
04:30
|
|||
Late for the interview; got turned away. Looked in the paper, but no one’s hirin’ today
Could use the money to fix up my old truck, cuz lately all I’m ridin’ is a bad run of luck
No need to worry; things are sure to turn around. I been better, but hey, I’m still above ground
I hear they’re lookin’ for some help down at the bar; That’s where I’m headed soon as I put down this guitar
How about these brand new strings? I just put ‘em on today.
Phosphor Bronze; medium gauge
They play like butter and ring so true
They lift up my spirits and sound so rich and so smooth
Doin’ pretty good, livin’ within my means, an occasional splurge on a brand new set a strings
Might sound crazy to you I suppose, it’s just one of those simple pleasures every guitar player knows
Thanks to the County, I’m never strapped. And my friends; they got my back
A meal, or a ride, or a place to lay my head; should-be lookin’ for some work; maybe one more song instead
How about these brand new strings? I just put ‘em on today.
Phosphor Bronze; medium gauge
They play like butter and ring so true
They lift up my spirits and sound so rich and so smooth
They lift up my spirits tho they’re hard to keep in tune

Jack Pine Savage
03:16
|
|||
Grandpa's hands were strong, from working all day long
Stood ten feet tall, heart had built a wall
Hellbent and hardboiled - never showed his hand
Always played it close to the vest
Worked hard for family - no matter the pay
That mean and grizzled Jack Pine Savage showed love his own kinda way
Like to spend his time, among his tools and all the grime
Learned that cussin' was an art, when those plugs were gapped and she still won't start
Been gone for a while, stories still make me smile
Lived a good life, fought the good fight
Hellbent and hardboiled - never showed his hand
Always played it close to the vest
Worked hard for family - no matter the pay
That mean and grizzled Jack Pine Savage showed love his own kinda way
His own kinda way
His own kinda way

Maybe
03:50
|
|||
Let’s start here I think this is where we lost it, you look high and I’ll look low
It might have fallen under something; it might have taken off and rolled
You know how, sometimes you find things where you least expect it and there’s no explanation why
You never know where we might find it, we just might be surprised
Maybe one of us was careless with it, maybe it just fell out of our grasp
Maybe one of us accidently misplaced it, maybe had a momentary lapse
Look at us, it’s kinda crazy, you would think we would learn
But here we are, all in a frenzy, all worked up and concerned
Don’t give up, remember, this has happened before
If we keep looking, we will find it, last time we found it on the floor
Maybe one of us was careless with it, maybe it just fell out of our grasp
Maybe one of us accidently misplaced it, maybe had a momentary lapse
Maybe someone came along and stole it; maybe we’ll never know the facts
Let’s start here I think this is where we lost it, you look high and I’ll look low
You never know where we might find it, when it comes to love you never know, you never know

Opinions
04:30
|
|||
I don’t believe in luck; I don’t believe in fate, I don’t believe a newborn baby’s heart is filled with hate
I don’t think that justice is always served, some are given more; some are given less than they deserve
I think the politics of religion and religion of politics has sometimes done more damage to what we try to fix
And if everyone would give just a little more than they take, we’d all be better off and the world a better place
Opinions, we all have a few, I got mine, I know you got yours too
Some that I hold are grounded in my facts,
But, I confess that I have many based on something less than that
But, agree or disagree I try to give respect
Cuz, we’re bound to have our differences and we all intersect around opinions
Opinions, even those unexpressed, unspoken or unwritten, are opinions none the less
I think that our beliefs deserve a good debate, but it’s a tragedy when our differences devolve into hate
So, I refuse to engage with those who won’t accept, principles of decency and mutual respect
Opinions laced with hate ridicule and lies, discredits the giver and widens the divide
That’s my opinion, we all have a few, I got mine and I know you got yours too
Some that I hold are grounded in my facts,
But I confess that I have many, based on something less than that
But agree or disagree - as hard as it may be, I try to give respect
Cuz, we’re bound to have our differences; let’s not disconnect around opinions

Miracles And Majesty
04:29
|
|||
Sun is risin’ in the mornin’ sky; startin’ low, but aimin’ high
Tiny songbirds in the tree, sing their pretty little songs for me
These sights and sounds fill my soul, on me they are not lost
I appreciate these precious gifts with my early mornin’ coffee thoughts
Take a breath, inhale the day, savor this moment ‘for it slips away
Clear blue water, reflects the sun, lo’and behold a new day has begun
There’s no tellin’ what it will bring, but in my faith I trust
Whatever it has to offer me I will take it in and adjust
So much beauty in this world, surrounding you and me
So much to be thankful for, miracles, miracles and majesty
Sun sets in the western sky, puts on a show as it waves goodbye
Tiny songbirds share one more tune, from the water comes the call of the loon
Some days are just magical; not all turn out that way
Tho some aren’t quite as good, there are none that I will turn away
So much beauty in this world, surrounding you and me
So much to be thankful for, miracles, miracles and majesty
So much beauty in this world, surrounding you and me
So much to be thankful for, miracles, miracles and majesty

Six String Salute
03:47
|
|||
I love my freedom, but I know freedom isn’t free, those who served our country paid the price for me
So, to each and every one of you; for all you gave, thank you for your service and the sacrifice you made
You were called to duty and you answered the call, all gave something and some gave all
I’m standing on your shoulders now and deep in your debt, I promise you, I will never forget
And with my utmost respect, won’t you please accept this song to honor you
It’s filled with gratitude, a simple tribute; it’s my six string salute
And to all the loved ones left behind, patiently waiting with a worried mind
To each and every one of you; for all you gave, thank you for your service and the sacrifice you made
And with my utmost respect, won’t you please accept this song to honor you
It’s filled with gratitude, a simple tribute; it’s my six string salute, a six string salute
